Meltzer on WWE possibly wanting Braun Strowman to beat Brock Lesnar

With Brock Lesnar still holding the WWE Universal Championship after the Greatest Royal Rumble event, fans are left scratching their heads wondering who will be the man to defeat Lesnar.

With Roman Reigns failing yet again, it’s hard to believe that they’d put him back into it immediately. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Brian Alvarez discussed Roman’s poor booking.

Roman is done, I don’t know what you do with him. I mean, he should be a heel. You know he could win the title and be a heel. Maybe he could win it from Braun, but my thought is that he has to be a heel.

I’ve probably thought that for three years now but I feel it much stronger now. I’ve always felt it strong from the start. If they’d turned him heel three years ago they might be cheering him by now.

They also mentioned how Strowman is looking more likely to be the company’s pick to defeat Lesnar, claiming that the Roman-Brock story is gone and buried at this point.

You could easily book a rematch off of this finish… but what do you do? You’ve already done the cage match, you’ve already done the pinfall. It’s just too much.

It’s like the program is already past its peak and they did put Strowman over. So, yeah, I gotta think Strowman’s the guy and he should be. He’s the more over of the two.

It’s no secret that many believe Roman should’ve turned heel years ago, and with the crowd reactions that Strowman gets, it makes a lot of sense to have him at the top of the card.

The issue with this whole story is that Brock has already beaten Strowman with one F-5. He’s beaten pretty much everyone that there is to beat on the roster, save for the guys that appeared on the Raw after WrestleMania and the Superstar Shakeup.

Taking away that loss last year, Strowman seems like the perfect candidate, and he is definitely more over with the fans. And the Monster Among Men winning the Greatest Royal Rumble a few days ago, it seems the company has something big planned for him.

Who would you like to see defeat the Universal Champion?
