Former NXT Champion and former TNA Star Samoa Joe was probably the biggest heel acquisition of SmackDown Live during Superstar Shakeup last week.
However, a lot of people were surprised by this brand switch as well as they believed that the company wouldn’t wanna move a top heel like Joe to the Blue Brand from their flagship show.
If the reports from Pwstream are to be believed, the real reason why Samoa Joe was moved to SmackDown Live was for him to avoid Roman Reigns. They made this claim in a recent tweet:
Per source: Samoa Joe moved to #SDLive to avoid Reigns. The two will have a match soon, however following that, Reigns, as expected, will be running #Raw. As such, Joe wouldn’t be a pivotal part of the show. WWE want him to play a big role — he wouldn’t be on Raw, hence the move.

Samoa Joe is set to face Roman Reigns one last time in a while during the upcoming Backlash PPV and they are not likely to cross paths soon afterward because of being in different brands now.
Considering this, it’s certainly possible that the company moved him to the Blue Brand to avoid confrontation with the Big Dog, howev,er unless a better source confirms these reports, we’ll have to take it with a grain of salt.
