WWE previously announced that Rey Mysterio will be making his official WWE return during the upcoming SmackDown 1000 episode next week and now the company has announced his opponent for the show as well.
During the latest episode of SmackDown Live, WWE revealed that Rey will be facing the United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a one on one match at the upcoming show.
The winner of this bout will qualify for the upcoming World Cup Tournament on the Crown Jewel PPV, alongside Randy Orton, John Cena, Kurt Angle, and Jeff Hardy.
Though this is not the only thing announced for the show as the company has confirmed stars like Ric Flair, Batista, Triple H and Undertaker for SmackDown 1000 as well.
Now the big question is if the match between Mysterio and Nakamura will be a one off thing or if it will turn out to be Rey’s first feud after his return to the company.
