Rumour killer on Slammy Awards

A fan recently asked Mike Johnson of PWinsider about WWE possibly bringing back Slammy Awards and he revealed that there are no plans to revive it this year.

The first Slammy Awards took place from Civic Center in Baltimore back in March 1986 and after a break from 1997 WWE had brought the concept back in 2008.

The last Slammys were held in 2015 and Mike notes that the company dropped this concept afterward claiming that they were looking for ‘new ideas’ for the event.

He further speculated that the event could pop back in several years but also noted that currently there are no talks about it returning anytime soon.

They probably decided not to revive it this year so it won’t clash with the upcoming 25th Anniversary special of Monday Night Raw later this month.

“They probably decided not to revive it this year so it won’t clash with the upcoming 25th Anniversary special of Monday Night Raw later this month.”

The problem with this, though, is that they usually held it December, around or a week or two before Xmas. If they’ve been held in January, please feel free to educate me.
