Samoa Joe on why WWE offered him a contract and his desire to work with Brock Lesnar

Before his upcoming match against the Beast Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe had an interview with ESPN where he talked about getting signed by WWE and more. Below are some of the highlights from his interview:

Talking about getting signed as a full-time wrestler in WWE after his debut in NXT, Joe revealed that the merchandise sales was one of the reasons why he was offered a full-time contract:

“After I made my initial debut at NXT TakeOver, they looked at the interest and merchandise sales and decided I would be better signed full-time than not. I had a pretty full calendar regardless, so for me, there wasn’t much of an inherent risk in originally signing.”

While speaking about the man he’ll challenge this Sunday for the WWE Universal Championship, the former NXT Champion said that Brock was the top wrestler in the list of guys he wanted to face:

“Brock was at the top of my list of guys that I wanted to work with. There are certain special guys in this industry and Brock is one of those special guys, and to be able to go out there and work with guys like that, that’s where legacies are built.”

Samoa Joe will face Brock Lesnar this Sunday at the Great Balls Of Fire PPV. You can check out the full match card and predictions for the event here.
