Top title not being defended at WrestleMania 34?

The bar

We noted before how The Young Bucks and War Machine were two of the top teams rumoured to face The Bar at WrestleMania this year, but it appears that the company has completely different plans for them.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, currently, the Raw Tag Team Champions are not scheduled for a match at the 34th edition of the Show Of Shows.

The current plans for The Tag Champs are for them to be part of some sort of angle at the show but what this angle would be is not known yet

Though it’s worth noting here that WWE is holding up a lot of their WrestleMania plans in wake of the impending report from filmmaker Jon Bravo who claims that apart from Roman Reigns a number of other WWE superstars were also involved in the much-heard steroid scandal.

So the plans for the Tag Champs are not finalized yet and while currently they are not scheduled to wrestle at the show, there is a chance that they could still end up defending their titles at the event.

AH YES! You see there is no time for actual wrestling anymore at Mania. Also we must make it so Steph is the first woman to ever headline a Mania.

You forgot live performances and Hall of Fame waving.

First off nobody is thinking the Young Bucks is going to be at WrestleMania heck most WWE fans don’t know who they really are to be honest.

Second there a lot of time between now an WrestleMania it could be any tag team for me it will be somebody from NXT. I still say Author of Pain or Sanity.

They will work the Broken Hardys, who on a weird technicality they have never wrestled before.

A lot of build up/hype videos for The Steph match and whatever Cena is doing. 4 hours of videos, 1 hour of wrestling.

5 hours of boredom then? Because they will have to kill a lot of time, because so far it’s going to be a short show. Not many confirmed Matches, everything is going to be last minute probably….which is pretty bad for wrestlemania.

But that’s kind of my point. Edge, Jeff Hardy, Bubba/Bully Ray, JBL/Bradshaw, Bret Hart, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Zack Ryder (at least for a while), Eddie Guerrero, John Morrison and HBK all got some kind of solid push after their respective teams got disbanded. However Christian, Matt Hardy, D-Von, Ron Simmons, Jim Neidhart, Stevie Ray, Rick Steiner, Curt Hawkins, Chavo Guerrero (and no I don’t count the WWE version of the ECW Title as a major title nor the Cruiserweight) and Joey Mercury never reached the same level of success.

  • HBK

Edge/Christian both had good singles career’s before the injury….Hardy Boyz have great singles careers… bully ray(to bad he never got to be the character in wwe) bradshaw, Bret hart, booker t, the shield members…..

True but think about it, how many times have we seen a successful tag team doing well get broken up then one gets released and the other either a jobber to the stars or get a mediocre push before they get forgotten about? Ok you could use the Shawn Michaels argument but really other than him I cant think of anybody doing well on their own after being split.

This is hardly a surprise given how the titles have been treated in the past and it’s no secret that Vince hates tag teams (for whatever reason)
