Trump Rejected After Asking Big Name To Be VP

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed that presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump offered him a spot on the GOP ticket on Monday. This claim came after a pro-Trump PAC, Make America Great Again, Inc., launched a new website targeting Kennedy and labeling him as a “radical f***ing Kennedy.” The website, available at https://www.radicalf-ingkennedy.com, criticizes Kennedy for his support of high taxes, the Green New Deal, an assault weapons ban, and other left-leaning positions.

In response, Kennedy claimed that Trump offered him a role as Trump’s vice presidential running mate, a suggestion he says he declined. Kennedy tweeted, “President Trump calls me an ultra-left radical. I’m soooo liberal that his emissaries asked me to be his VP. I respectfully declined the offer. I am against President Trump, and President Biden can’t win. Judging by his new website, it looks like President Trump knows who actually can beat him.”

Kennedy previously made waves by expressing pride in Trump’s favorable opinion of him in 2023. Around the same time, Trump praised Kennedy as a “good man” with his “heart in the right place.”

More recently, however, Trump has shifted his rhetoric, highlighting Kennedy’s left-wing credentials as a way to position him as a threat to President Joe Biden. In a video posted on Truth Social, Trump argued that Kennedy is “the most radical left candidate in the race,” more extreme than even the Green Party or President Biden, while noting that he still likes Kennedy despite their differences.
