Show Opening

Tonight’s August 7, 2020 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown is brought to you by Progressive, we are informed by Michael Cole on commentary. Corey Graves, also on commentary, welcomes us to the Performance Center in Orlando, FL.

Video Package – Bray Wyatt/Braun Strowman Feud Highlights

A video package starts off tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown highlighting the Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman feud including their match up at Extreme Rules where Alexa Bliss appeared during the match in the Swamp Match calling out to Braun. The voice of Bray Wyatt stating, “Until he get’s what he wants… none of you are safe” then flashes to black.

Video – Last Week’s SmackDown w/ Alexa Bliss and The Fiend

Next the video airs of Nikki Cross vs. Bayley on last week’s SmackDown where Alexa Bliss entered the ring to comfort her tag-team partner/best friend Nikki after her loss. “It’s his turn now” in Bray’s voice dubbed over as the screen flashes to black. When the picture returns, a red glow as The Fiend circles Alexa Bliss before kneeling next to her, and delivering the Mandible Claw as Bliss shakes her head “no” breathing heavily and that ended last week’s SmackDown.

“Let me in!” is heard.

Firefly Fun House w/ Bray Wyatt

“Hello everyone,” Bray begins. He mentions that his DM’s are full of haters blaming Bray Wyatt for what happened to Alexa Bliss last week. Bray points to a picture of Braun Strowman. Bray tells Braun he can’t believe he let something so horrific happen to someone that Braun “cares” so much about. Bray said he happens to know that The Fiend will be here later, with someone special *laughter in background* In his deep serious voice he states, “I suggest you give him what he wants.” Suddenly all smiles again, Wyatt states, “It gives me the heebie-geebies just thinking about it…” Wyatt then says “Bye!” with a child-like wave.

Inside the Arena

Are you ready for a good time??

Matt Riddle vs. Sheamus

We hear, “Brooo….” sound over the speakers to kick off tonight’s show. Matt Riddle makes his way out for the first match up of the evening. Riddle dances his way down the ramp as he is announced as “The Original Bro, Matt Riddle”. Riddle enters the ring and poses as we head to a video clip of King Corbin and Shorty G speaking backstage. Then Drew Gulak vs King Corbin’s match where Matt Riddle interrupts and attacks Corbin until Shorty G delivers a German Suplex, attempting to receieve the King’s Ransom.

We return to Matt Riddle dancing in the ring as Graves and Cole discuss the Celtic Warrior and The Original Bro’s match up in just a few moments.

Next Sheamus’s music sounds as Sheamus stands with his arms extended at the top of the stage. Sheamus makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring, joining Riddle. The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and our first match of the evening is officially underway!!

Matt Riddle heads out of the gate strong, attacking Sheamus as the bell rings. A Knee to the ribs turns things around, Sheamus with a Knee to the midsection of The Original Bro, Matt Riddle.
Riddle immediately locks in a rear-naked choke with both hooks in. Sheamus gets to the ropes. Sheamus takes Riddle over with a side headlock. Riddle escapes.

Riddle responds with a leg sweep. Sheamus drops Riddle with a knee to the ribs. Sheamus works over Riddle’s arm and shoulder. Riddle locks Sheamus in an Armbar. Riddle turns it into a pin. Sheamus kicks out. Sheamus Gut-wrench Power-bombs Riddle. Ten beats of the Bodhran by Sheamus. Sheamus goes up top. Riddle knocks Sheamus off the top rope with a flying elbow. We head to commercial break.

Trio of Irish Back-Breakers by Sheamus as we return from commercial break. Sheamus now has complete control of this match up. Rights and lefts exchanged between the two. Riddle follows up with a Big Forearm in the corner. Riddle starts to hype up, hitting a Running Kick followed by a Broton for the cover. Sheamus kicks out at two.

Riddle heads up top looking for the Floating Bro, Sheamus rolls out of the way and counters with White Noise for the cover, Riddle kicks out at two! Sheamus looks unsure as to how Riddle was able to survive everything Sheamus has brought at him. A Brogue Kick attempt, Riddle counters, and Slams Sheamus to the canvas and Bridges a pin. Sheamus with a two count pin attempt of his own. Sheamus Posts his shoulder as he attempts to Shoulder Shove Riddle.

Sheamus on the outside of the ring, Riddle joins him, delivering a Massive Kick, Sheamus counters with a Flying Knee. From behind, Shorty G runs in and attacks Riddle at ringside, the referee signals for the bell calling for DQ.

Winner: Disqualification

After the Match

Superman Punch off the steel stairs, then dribbles Shorty G’s head like a basketball off the announcer’s desk. Riddle driving Shorty G into the stairs, then nearly crushing Shorty G’s chest with another Massive Kick. Suddenly the ring announcer calls the winner:

Winner: “Due to Disqualification, the winner of this match up, Matt Riddle!!”

Matt Riddle looks up at Sheamus and shrugs his shoulders, then begins dancing in celebration!

After Announcement of Winner

Sheamus exits the ring and grabs Shorty G, throwing him into the ring. Sheamus Brogue Kicks Shorty G. What do you think you’re doing messing up my match? You took my opportunity away from me. Get up, Get up, Get up!! Finally Shorty G gets up, only to be Brogue Kicked back to the canvas by a very angry Sheamus. Sheamus then exits the ring, beginning up the ramp as we see a screen shot of “The Fiend: Tonight”.

The Dirt Sheet w/ special guest Sonya Deville is announced to be up next, after the commercial break!

The Dirt Sheet

We return from commercial break and The Miz and Jon Morrison welcome us to this week’s edition of “The Dirt Sheet”. They then send us to a video clip from last week between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose backstage.

Video Clip – Sonya’s attack on Mandy

Attack by Sonya Deville on Mandy Rose, then covering her face with dark and ugly makeup and chopping off her blonde locks. “I can’t wait to show everyone your pretty face” Deville mocks Rose as she continues to “de-pretty” her. As Rose is knocked out, Deville turns on the hair clippers and is stopped by WWE officials before scalping Rose.

The Miz and Jon Morrison continue to speak but their voices keep cutting. Both hit their mics over and over. The Miz welcomes Mandy Rose’s Hair joins via satelite. “Hi guys, that guy looks good with that jacket on, even in this heat…” The Miz speaks for Mandy Rose’s Hair. The Miz asks how Mandy Rose’s hair is feeling. This time Morrison speaks for the hair. They continue to mock Mandy Rose…’s hair. The Miz asks what’s next for her. “Can I get a ‘hair yea” HAAIR yea!” the hair states. Morrison says, “Best of luck to you, Mandy’s hair.”

The Miz says “If I’m being honest, the real victim has not been heard yet. I think you should give her the attention she deserves. Ladies and gentleman, Sonya Deville!!” Deville’s music sounds in the arena. In an all black suit, Deville enters the ring, picking up her mic and taking a seat. “Hard working, dedicated, self made, that’s someone I could get behind” Miz and Morrison agree stating, “and she has a great catch phrase… HAIRR YEA!”

Sonya Deville Joins The Dirt Sheet

Sonya Deville’s music sounds as Sonya makes her way down the ramp and enters the ring with The Miz and Jon Morrison for tonight’s “The Dirt Sheet”. Miz and Morrison discuss what happened with Mandy Rose backstage, calling Sonya “the victim” of the two. Sonya mocks Mandy.

Deville asks, “Did I have fun slamming Rose’s head into the vanity? Did I enjoy ruining her make-up and cutting her hair? You’re damn right I did!” The crowd begins shouting, “Ha-ter, Ha-ter, Ha-ter” Mandy won her way to WWE, by winning a bikini contest. Sonya says Mandy won a Bumpy for… making out with Otis. At one point Sonya notes that Mandy has nothing else but her beauty going for her, so she made her as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.

Sonya asks the crowd, “Is this the point where you expect Mandy’s music to hit so she can come down and ‘give me what I deserve’?? It’s not going to happen!” Morrison says no one has seen Mandy since the attack. The Miz notes that Mandy Rose hasn’t even been on her social media. The Miz calls Otis and Mandy “Mr. and Mrs. Shrek”.

Heavy Machinery Joins The Dirt Sheet!

Having heard enough trash talk about “his little peach”, Otis -joined by Heavy Machinery tag-team partner Tucker- come running down the ramp as their entrance theme sounds over the speakers! Deville quickly exits the ring as Otis and Tucker attack Jon Morrison and The Miz, ultimately throwing them from the ring as we head to commercial break!

Quick Announcement

Michael Cole states The Miz and Jon Morrison will take on Heavy Machinery after what happened earlier on The Dirt Sheet.

Cesaro vs. Lince Dorado

Back from the break and out come the SmackDown Tag Team Champions – Cesaro with Shinsuke Nakamura. The Lucha House Party is out next – Lince Dorado with Gran Metalik. Greg Hamilton does the introductions. We get a sidebar video from earlier today with Dorado and Metalik talking about showing Cesaro how to party tonight.

Back and forth to start the match. Cesaro easily takes control and drops Dorado. Dorado tries to power up but Cesaro clotheslines him. Dorado ends up sending Cesaro out. The lights flicker again and Graves jokes about RETRIBUTION. Dorado runs the ropes and leaps out but Cesaro catches him. Dorado counters and stands on the barrier. He leaps off with a hurricanrana, sending Cesaro into the apron. Dorado brings it back in and they tangle. Dorado rocks Cesaro with a kick but Dorado flies and Cesaro catches him in mid-move. Cesaro with a backbreaker for a 2 count.

Cesaro keeps Dorado grounded in the middle of the ring now, working him over. Cesaro with a 2 count as he shows some frustration now. The crowd rallies as Cesaro grounds Dorado again. Dorado fights up and out. More back and forth again. Dorado catches Cesaro with a big springboard Stunner for a pop. Dorado with a moonsault from the bottom rope, then the middle rope. Dorado goes up for a third moonsault but Nakamura runs interference from the apron.

Dorado swings and Nakamura goes back to the floor but Cesaro takes advantage and turns it around. Cesaro goes for a big Razor’s Edge Bomb but Dorado counters and takes him down for a 2 count. Cesaro quickly takes back control with an uppercut, then nails the Gotch Neutralizer in the middle of the ring for the pin to win.

Winner: Cesaro

After the Match

Nakamura joins Cesaro in the ring and they stand tall with the titles as the music hits. We go to replays.

Quick Announcement

Cole confirms The Miz and John Morrison vs. Heavy Machinery for later tonight. Tucker and Otis are backstage now and Otis is fired up. Kayla Braxton approaches for comments and asks if he can channel his anger for tonight’s match.

Backstage – Otis and Tucker

“Everything is a joke to them, they think it’s funny. I like jokes, I’m a funny guy. What Deville did to Rose last week, disgusting. “I’m used to the jokes being on me, I’ve been made fun of since I was a little boy. But you mock my little peach, I won’t stand for it!” Otis exclaims.

In-Ring – The Fiend

“Let me in…” is heard over the speakers in the scratchy deep voice of Bray Wyatt. The arena goes to black. Red beams of light flash across the arena. The Fiend- Bray Wyatt stands at the top of the stage. Fiend heads down the ramp, -not from beneath the ring as per usual- his first official entrance with an entrance theme song and a name plate under him as he stops at the bottom of the ramp next to the ring. Fiend puts his hands over his ears, shaking his head as we head to commercial break.

We return from commercial break to see what looks like a replay from last week where The Fiend joined Alexa Bliss inside the ring, crawling across the ring. Different though… as he turns his hand towards a frightened Alexa Bliss to perform the Mandible Claw, Alexa stops Fiend this time, putting her hand on his, then rubbing her hand on his face. Fiend stands and looks away, upset that she got to him in any type of way it seems.

Suddenly we hear, “Hey, Bray… you sadistic bastard,” WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman appears on the big screen as Wyatt backs off from Bliss. Braun Strowman starts, “ha-ha-ha. I don’t give a damn about Alexa, all I care about, is destroying you. trowman goes on about how different he is coming out of the Swamp Fight. Since ur standing in that ring, you are looking at the most evil son of a bitch you’ve ever laid eyes on.

I was pushed to my breaking point, and I let it out. That which was scratching inside me trying to get out. I am more than a man. I am the thing that nightmares are made of. I am the monster. Fiend, you can have whatever you want. At SummerSlam, face… the Monster.” Strowman continues breathing heavy as The Fiend looks on from the ring, apparently in approval. We get flashes of The Fiend as SmackDown goes to commercial.

“LET ME IN!” as we head to commercial.

Jeff Hardy vs. King Baron Corbin

We return from the commercial break and out first comes Jeff Hardy first. The boos start up as King Baron Corbin makes his way out next. The bell rings and they go at it. Hardy blocks a big punch and hits the inverted Atomic Drop. Hardy unloads but Corbin fights back. Hardy drops Corbin with a running forearm. Hardy with another Atomic Drop and the double leg takedown.

Hardy with some of his signature moves and a splash for a 2 count in the middle of the ring. The crowd rallies but Corbin rocks Hardy in the throat. Corbin unloads and blocks a Twist of Fate. Corbin comes right back with a clothesline for a 2 count. Corbin works Hardy over as the crowd rallies again. Corbin launches Hardy out to the floor in front of the announcers.

Corbin follows and beats Hardy on top of the announce table now, unloading with punches to the face as the crowd boos. Corbin brings it back in the ring for a 2 count. Corbin grounds Hardy and unloads with elbows. Corbin keeps Hardy down in a submission now. Hardy fights up and out but Corbin takes him right back down to the mat. Hardy fights back up but Corbin sends him to the corner.

Corbin goes out and right back in the ring but Hardy is waiting, sending him back into the barrier. Hardy unloads on the outside and brings it back in. Hardy charges but Corbin catches him with a Deep Six for a close 2 count. Hardy blocks off End of Days and keeps fighting. Corbin shuts him down with a big knee, knocking Hardy back out to the floor. Sheamus suddenly appears at ringside and decks Hardy in the face with a Brogue Kick out of nowhere.

Fans boo as the referee calls for the disqualification.

Winner by DQ: Jeff Hardy

After the Match

Corbin goes out and argues with Sheamus at ringside as Hardy’s music hits. The referee gets in between Sheamus and Corbin arguing. Back to commercial.

Sheamus vs. King Corbin

Back from the break and this match is underway as Sheamus brawls in the ring with King Baron Corbin.

Sheamus rocks Corbin but Corbin comes right back with a big boot. Sheamus drops Corbin with a knee to the gut. Corbin tries to go to the floor for a breather but Sheamus pulls him back up to the apron and goes for the series of forearms. Corbin gets free and goes to the floor. Sheamus runs around the ring but Corbin levels him on the floor. The referee starts counting. Corbin launches Sheamus into the barrier now.

Corbin unloads with body shots against the barrier. Corbin slams Sheamus’ face into the announce table a few times, then brings him back into the ring. Sheamus rocks Corbin with a knee as soon as he enters. Sheamus clotheslines Corbin right back to the floor as the crowd rallies. Sheamus goes out and sends Corbin into the Plexiglas now. Sheamus sends Corbin face-first into the announce table. Sheamus keeps control and runs Corbin shoulder-first into the ring post now. Sheamus keeps Corbin down and talks some trash. Sheamus brings it back in and goes to the top rope. He leaps but Corbin ducks. Corbin comes right back with a side-slam for a 2 count in the middle of the ring.

Corbin immediately mounts Sheamus with right hands. Corbin drives Sheamus shoulder-first into the turnbuckles now. Corbin mounts Sheamus from behind int he corner and pounds on him as the aggressive action continues between the two. Corbin drops Sheamus with a right hand in the middle of the ring.

Sheamus gets back to his feet but Corbin ragdolls him right back to the mat, grounding him. Sheamus tries to get back up but Corbin slams him down from one knee. Sheamus claws at Corbin’s eye and tries to break free but Corbin keeps him down. Graves and Cole try to remember the last time someone manhandled Sheamus like this. Sheamus finally powers up but Corbin hangs onto his back and keeps control. Corbin levels Sheamus once again with a clothesline.

Matt Riddle suddenly comes down out of nowhere and springboards into the ring. Corbin ducks him and Riddle goes right back out of the ring. Sheamus immediately takes advantage of the distraction and drops Corbin with a Brogue Kick for the pin to win.

Winner: Sheamus

After the Match

Sheamus hits the corner to pose as his music hits. Riddle applauds him from ringside. We go to replays. Corbin tries to recover on the mat as Riddle continues applauding Sheamus.

Backstage – Sasha Banks and Bayley

Bayley looking like something is going on, leaning against a wall with her hands on her knees as Sasha Banks walks up. Sasha asks if Bayley is ok, Bayley say she’s fine, but seems like she’s hiding something, possibly a bit nervous. Bayley says she wishes Banks woulda asked her, before agreeing to the match for Bayley. Sasha states, “You got this, I NEED you to do this for me. Asuka wants a re-match for MY belt, Bayley said Asuka wants to get back at me for what I did to Kairi.” Banks states it doesn’t matter what Kairi wants, we have all the gold, it isn’t about Asuka, we are the Golden Role Models, and I need you to do this.

Suddenly they are interrupted by a WWE representative who states they are wanted in the ring for a Video Conference Call with Stephanie McMahon.

Sasha Banks repeats, “Stephanie…” and Bayley finishes in a questioning tone, “Mc-Mahon??” Bayley quickly changes her tone, “It’s, it’s-fine. We’re, fine.” Reassuring Banks and herself it seems, as we head to commercial break.

Backstage – Big E Interview

Back from the break and Kayla is backstage with Big E. She asks, “With Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods sidelines, what does this next part of your journey look like?” Big E states he has been and has done things such as, “pouring cereal on a grown adult, A man that is an entertainer, a tag partner, and a friend.”

Big E goes on, “But now I get to answer the question, what if they woulda passed him the ball. They don’t hold me down, they lift me up! I may not know where this run will take me, I will give this nothing less than ALL of me, I said ALLL OF ME… because… what Kayla? Kayla says, “New, day rocks.” “What else?” Big E asks, “New, day rocks.” “What else?” Big E asks again. “New, day rocks.” Big E says, “Yeeeaaaa!”

In Ring – Bayley and Sasha Banks

We go back to the ring and see the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions – RAW Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon appears on the big screen and they welcome her.

Stephanie thanks Banks and Bayley for joining her. She praises them for achieving their goal of winning all the gold in WWE, except for WWE NXT. They thank her and say her positive feedback means the world because there’s a lot of negative hate in the locker room now. Bayley states, “We really all we are trying to be are role models for little girls that watch. Like what you did when you started the women’s evolution. i mean, being a guest referee, making a mockery of me by brutally attacking Kairi sane and beating Asuka.”

“Stephanie we know what’s best for business. we watch you like every single day, we watch everything on the WWE Network, which those at home can do for only, $9.99!!”

Stephanie spoke to Banks, “Sasha at SummerSlam you will be defending your title against your best friend’s competitor on Monday, Asuka.”

Next week, a Triple Brand Battle Royal will have three brands fight for the #1 Contender spot to take on Bayley at SummerSlam. Commentary mentions this is Bayley’s 300th day as SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Heavy Machinery vs. The Miz & Jon Morrison w/ Sonya Deville

We return from commercial break and Heavy Machinery is out first as Tucker and Otis make their way down the ramp and enter the ring. Out next are The Miz and Jon Morrison, accompanied by Sonya Deville for support. The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and the match is officially underway!

Backstage – Sonya Deville, The Miz and John Morrison

Kayla is backstage with Sonya Deville, The Miz and John Morrison. Miz and Morrison take shots at Heavy Machinery and walk off for tonight’s main event.

The Miz and John Morrison vs. Heavy Machinery

Back from the break and it’s time for tonight’s main event as The Miz and John Morrison make their way out. Sonya Deville is with them. Out next is Heavy Machinery – Tucker and Otis, with his Money In the Bank briefcase.

Morrison starts off with Tucker. Morrison strikes with big kicks to start. Tucker comes back with a slam, grounding Morrison. Deville cheers Morrison on. Tucker and Morrison go at it and Tucker levels him with a clothesline. The lights start flickering again as Graves jokes about this being RETRIBUTION again. Otis tags in and they double team Morrison. Otis runs over Morrison as the crowd cheers.

Morrison counters Otis and tags in Miz. Miz rocks Otis but Otis takes it and rubs his belly, dancing around. Otis takes more shots from Miz. Otis rips his shirt off, blocks a shot and runs over Miz in the middle of the ring. Tucker tags back in and they march around Miz in the middle of the ring. They then collide against him, sending him to the floor to regroup. Tucker leaps off the apron with a cannonball, taking down both opponents on the floor. Heavy Machinery celebrates as we go to commercial.

As we return from commercial break The Miz is in control of Tucker. Tucker tries to get to his corner but the Miz sends him into the heel corner. Miz tags Morrison, who springboards into the ring with a stomp and covers for a two. Morrison drops forearms on Tucker then delivers a kick to his back. Morrison rebounds off the ropes to attempt another kick but Tucker kick’s Morrison’s knee. Morrison recovers and keeps Tucker grounded, tagging in the Miz.

Double team move by the duo as they slam Tucker face first into the mat. Miz hits a DDT and covers for two. Miz with a hard kick to a seated Tucker. Miz is showing off and jawing off. Miz takes Tucker to the middle rope and pushes a knee into his back, and the ref forces the break–and the distraction allows Morrison to deliver a running knee strike on the apron. Tucker is trying to crawl to hsi corner but Miz grabs his legs. Morrison tags in, and it looks like the Miz goes to slingshot Tucker but sends him into his own partner. Tucker manages to make the hot tag to Otis!

Otis comes in fired up and takes out the Miz and Morrison repeatedly, sending Miz from the ring. Otis floors Morrison and goes for the Caterpillar but Miz makes the save. All four men move to ringside. Tucker takes out Morrison and Miz slams into Otis and both men hit hte ring steps. Mandy Rose storms the ring with shorter, shoulder length hair and wearing jeans with a short tank top, and attacks Sonya at ringside. The beating spills into the ring and the ref calls for the bell. Heavy Machinery tries to separate Mandy back, and Miz/Morrison do the same for Sonya.

Mandy escapes and attacks Sonya. Again, both women are separated. Sonya escapes and hits a leaping spear, and Heavy Machinery slide out the ring, pulling Mandy Rose with them. We go to commercials.

Winner: No Contest

Backstage/In-Ring – Retribution

Backstage everyone is arguing until the lights waiver. Suddenly, Retribution debuts! The faction storms the ring–five of them wearing black hoodies and wielding bats and a crow bar. Guys in all black and face masks come rushing the Performance Center, making sense of the mics cutting earlier in the night, lights flickering, etc.  Michael Cole and Corey Graves are announcing the takeover and what’s going on when suddenly they too, are chased from ringside. “This is our house now… you might wanna leave, you might wanna go home!”

A camera man is taken down, we see the camera fall to the ground in POV when suddenly all the cameramen take their leave, only one camera view now from whoever is filming from above the “fans”. The masked all black clothed figures and weapon wielding men all in masks come out of the “safe” filming area and start attacking the crowd behind the plexiglas. They attack a female fan who tries to run, but is dragged across the floor while she kicks and scratches like a “Paranormal Activity” spoof. After spray painting the plexiglas with a “W” with a line through it, they turn their attention on the ring. They then cross out “SmackDown” on the apron with red spray paint. At one point, they overturn the since abandoned announcer’s table. The hooded figures re-enter the ring, shoving each other all hyped up. Suddenly a chainsaw comes into play as they cut the ropes to the ring. The screen flashes to black ending the show.

Well… that happened.
