WWE has been pushing fans to contact ESPN with the idea of them covering SummerSlam like it’s a big sporting event. According to some within ESPN, the network is down on the idea as they believed WWE is not a hot product right now due to the ratings being at record lows and attendance is below usual numbers.

However, ESPN management is always looking for more content, thus more revenue for them in advertisements.
It’s said that some people dead-set against the idea, feeling that ESPN should not cover pro wrestling because it’s not a sport.
