”Mean” Gene Okerlund passed away at the age of 76 and the entire wrestling world is mourning his demise. There is more information regarding the cause of his death.
Associated Press was told by Okerlund’s son Todd that his father passed away yesterday. He was admitted to a Sarasota Florida hospital which was near his home. He had his wife Jeanne by his side.
Okerlund had three kidney transplants, and his son said that his father fell a few weeks ago, with things getting worse from there on.
The Minessota Star Tribune reported that Gene Okerlund passed away around 5:30 am. He was said to have ”a lot of different issues”, which can also be attributed to his passing. He died of natural causes.
