WWE Championship match confirmed for Extreme Rules

As seen on RAW, Samoa Joe came out of nowhere and ambushed Kofi Kingston and knocked him out with the vicious Coquina Clutch. Earlier today, Cathy Kelley announced that Joe will be facing Kingston for the Title at the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

However, Dolph Ziggler walked into this announcement and indicated that he will once again try to earn a shot at the title after unsuccessfully challenging for it at Sunday’s Stomping Grounds show.

As SmackDown LIVE began, Ziggler showed up and confronted Kingston. It was then announced that Kingston will face Ziggler in the main event of SmackDown LIVE in a 2 out of 3 falls match and if Ziggler won, he’d be added to the WWE Title match at Extreme Rules.

And so the two Superstars faced one another in a gruelling 2 out of 3 falls match. However, Kofi Kingston ultimately came out on top by defeating Ziggler and crushed his chances of getting another WWE Title opportunity.

So there you have it, Kingston and Joe will go one-on-one for the WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
