Ric Flair reveals what Tony Khan said to him about potential AEW signing

While Ric Flair has now confirmed that he has signed a new contract with WWE, there were rumors about his status when the news had not been confirmed.

Since AEW has been the hot destination for many former WWE stars, a lot of people wondered if we can see the 16 time world champion joining the upstart promotion anytime soon.

However, during a recent interview with WrestlingInc, Flair himself revealed what the AEW president had said to him about a potential move to the company:

“Tony [Khan] told me that he wouldn’t even ask me to come to work there because he knows how tight I am with [WWE]. Our friendship is one thing but he respects my loyalty to the company. That’s how much respect [Khan] has for me and my relationship with the company which speaks volumes to what kind of guy Tony is. The same would apply to my daughter and WWE.”

During the interview, Ric Flair also revealed that while the talks were going on for a while, he only re-signed with the company last week, explaining that the effects of coronavirus slowed down the process.
