Cody Rhodes squared off against Lance Archer at AEW Double Or Nothing for the TNT Championship. Both competitors gave it their all as they went to war. When all was said and done, Rhodes won the match. It seems due to the match, Rhodes’ perception of Archer changed.
Cody spoke in the Double Or Nothing virtual scrum following the conclusion of the event, where he revealed that he had initial doubts about AEW signing Lance Archer. Rodes noted that Archer is probably “one of the top three” best wrestlers he has faced in the ring. However, he said, they are “not best friends by any means.”
“The recruitment of Lance Archer to AEW, Tony Khan and QT Marshall, they were really the ones were on that search. I questioned that search and I have no questions anymore. He’s one of the top three opponent I’ve ever had. I cannot wait to step back in the ring with him. A freak hybrid drug-free athlete — the things he can do, that’s what you want.”
He then added by saying “that’s what a wrestling company should be paying the big bucks for.”
We will have to see what is next in store for Lance Archer.
