John Cena is a 16-time World Champion in WWE and has been the face of the company for over a decade until he shifted to a part-time schedule back in 2017. Many fans have been wanting to see Cena make his return at this year’s WrestleMania. He is also worked with Vin Diesel on Fast and Furious 9. John Cena could also be losing his return match.
John Cena has not been seen on WWE television since his WrestleMania 36 match against Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Funhouse match. However, Cena will be returning to WWE television this month during the Houston live events, which will also see the return of a live audience.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, John Cena is currently a lock-in for the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view as he no longer has to film for the Peacemaker, so he will be returning to WWE Smackdown soon to promote the match.
No word on when he shows up for television, but Cena is free of responsibilities for acting work at this point and until after SummerSlam. Cena vs. Reigns is locked in as the main event for the show. However, Cena is in a movie called “Argylle,” a spy thriller which will be shooting in Europe in August. It’s possible he could start after or end prior to the date, or even get a few days off
