WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has the final say in anything and everything that goes on in the company, for better or worse. Vince McMahon also sabotaged Jon Moxley’s matches.
Michael Cole is one of the mainstays of WWE television as part of the commentary team for Friday Night Smackdown but has worked on Monday Night RAW as well. During the Q&A at Steel City Con, WWE Hall Of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield recalled the time Vince McMahon threatened to fire Michael Cole after Cole mentioned Jimmy Snuka. Cole was not supposed to introduce Jimmy Snuka’s son as that, but he did anyway.
Vince’s response was, “Michael, I’m gonna come down there and I’m gonna fire you. No, I’m gonna come down there and I’m gonna kick your ass — No, I’m not.” He’s debating with himself at this point and he goes, “No, no, no, no, no, no. I’m gonna kick your ass and then I’m going to fire you. That’s what I’m gonna do. I’m coming down right now.“
WWE have released Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Santana Garrett, and Buddy Murphy. The reason cited was part of budget cuts, and Strowman was being paid $1.2 million per year according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The former WWE Universal Champion signed a new contract in October 2019, so the budget cut regarding Strowman is the WWE’s biggest saving financially from all of the talent cuts in the last year plus during the pandemic. Braun Strowman was fired by WWE for a very surprising reason as well.
