Vince McMahon ‘Done’ With Biggest Raw Star?

Gable Steveson has become a hot sportsperson ever since his performance at the Tokyo Olympics by winning the gold medal in the 125 kg freestyle wrestling category. WWE managed to sign him to a contract last year, and became a part of Raw after the WWE Draft.

According to reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Ringside News), there were plans for a WrestleMania squash match to push Gable Steveson on his debut. And that would be against Omos, who is currently involved in a program with Bobby Lashley for WrestleMania 38. The report states that a large number of sources, including from within the WWE, have suggested that Steveson would debut at The Grandest Stage Of Them All and squash Omos in 20 seconds to kickstart his pro wrestling career, with Vince McMahon seemingly being done with Omos’ push in an instant. The report, however, added that this is not the current plan.

”You don’t know how many people, including those in the company, have suggested or talked about having Steveson debut at Mania and just slam and pin Omos in 20 seconds to get his career going. But that is not the current plan.”

Gable Steveson defended the NCAA Heavyweight Championship on Sunday and became a two-time champion. He announced his permanent retirement from amateur wrestling. He posted a statement on Twitter saying that he is grateful to amateur wrestling, and possibly spoiled his WrestleMania debut plans by adding that he would be present at WrestleMania 38 next month. He wrote, “Also, I will be at WrestleMania… It’s time!!” before deleting it.

It would be interesting to see what WWE has in store for Gable Steveson and his planned debut at WrestleMania 38.
