The former AEW EVP Cody Rhodes has been slated to make his return to WWE soon. He is likely to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. But, before possibly heading to WWE, he had a great run at AEW where he won titles multiple times.
Cody Rhodes might make less in WWE
The question has been raised whether Cody’s biggest mistake has been massively overestimating his own importance and popularity. It has been noted that his entire presentation in his AEW run seemed to be trying to convince people he was a big star without really being on that level. The suits, the promos, the elaborate entrance all gave the impression that Cody considered himself more important than anybody else.
Dave Scherer of PWInsider recently spoke about the matter. Here is what he said:
“I don’t know what he is getting paid from WWE so I can’t say for sure if it was a mistake on his part but my hunch is that he was making more in AEW, plus he was an executive so he was entitled to benefits as well. Add in the two TV shows and I see even more money out the table. So my guess is he will make less in WWE and probably be in a lesser position. But, he knew he was making a power play and when someone does that, they have to accept that it could go against them if the other party, in this case Tony Khan, don’t agree with them on what they are worth.”
Rollins recently revealed that he is scheduled to have a meeting with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Rollins previously stated that he would get what he wants. Ahead of the latest edition of Monday Night RAW he had a meeting with the WWE Chairman and it was announced that he will work WrestleMania 38 but his opponent will be revealed at the show.
It is speculated that Cody Rhodes will be revealed as his opponent. ‘The Visionary had blown his chances to get on the card. He and Kevin Owens were unable to win the Raw Tag Team Titles a few weeks ago. Rollins also lost matches to Owens and AJ Styles where he would have taken their spot on the card if he won.
