The Undertaker was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. He has retired from pro wrestling for good and he is not returning to the squared circle by the looks of it. The former WWE Champion AJ Styles recently revealed that he tried to convince ‘The Phenom’ to come out of retirement and have one more match. But, Taker stuck to his decision and it was the right time for him to hang up his boots.
AJ Styles reveals the conversation with The Undertaker
AJ Styles faced off against The Undertaker in a Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36. The match was a cinematic bout and it was highly praised by the fans. The Deadman defeated Styles in that match. It marked Taker’s last match in WWE. While speaking with Wrestling Inc, AJ Styles revealed that he tried to convince The Undertaker. He said:
“I think we all knew that once the Boneyard match got the reaction that it did, that might be it. I called, and he didn’t return my calls. Because he knew, ‘hey, he’s going to convince me to have another match.’”
The Undertaker had delivered a heartfelt speech at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He concluded the speech by teasing the fans about a potential return. He had said ‘never say never when it came to an in-ring return. We will have to see if fans can witness one last ride with Taker.
On social media via Twitter, former WCW and WWE star Buff Bagwell took exception to a portion of the Undertaker’s WWE Hall of Fame speech after the Undertaker would mention the word ‘respect’ several times during it. Bagwell recalled Undertaker hitting Chris Kanyon several times with a steel chair.
“Good speech by Undertaker. He talked a lot about respecting everyone and all I could think was how did he respect Kanyom when he tried to behead him with that chair,” wrote Bagwell.
