Shawn Michaels revealed Nikkita Lyons is ‘medically unavailable’ for WWE SmackDown, leading to speculation that she is unvaccinated, and therefore cannot enter Canada for SmackDown unless she quarantined for 14 days ahead of time. Toxic Attraction replaced Lyons and Zoey Stark on SmackDown in the tag title tournament.
Many fans are hoping to see The Rock back on SmackDown next year to feud with Roman Reigns. The Rock and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg have been two of the biggest money-drawing stars of WWE back in the day. The Rock gained his popularity from WWE while Goldberg became a huge star in WCW with his dominance and undefeated streak. It has come to light how the WCW legend had once made it clear that he was not Hulk Hogan.
The Rock had a tense meeting with Goldberg
The Rock joined former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins for an Instagram video session on Tuesday. Gewirtz recalled Goldberg having a tense meeting with ‘The Great One’ ahead of their renowned rivalry in 2003.
He said:
“It’s the simplest promo you could ever have. Rock’s running his mouth, I’ve done all there is to do. I’ve beaten everybody and Goldberg comes out and spears him, that’s it, you know? And people anticipated this because this was the day after Mania [19], after the big Rock/[Steve] Austin match. So everyone was anticipating it. I’m like, great. You know, ‘Oh, you know what we could do?
“We do this great thing, we did this thing with Rock and Hogan in Chicago where they’re standing face-to-face and they’re each looking at the crowd and it’s this iconic moment’ and Rock’s like, ‘Yeah, we can do that. Sounds good’ and Bill’s just like, ‘Yup. There’s just one problem. I ain’t Hulk Hogan.’ Intense stare and Rock and I do the little look to each other.”
The duo had a memorable rivalry back in the day. Goldberg ended up defeating The Rock in his WWE debut match at Backlash. This marked The Rock’s first pay-per-view loss since SummerSlam 2002.
