The 16-time World Champion John Cena hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since the celebration of the 20th anniversary of his WWE debut back in June. He indicated during an in-ring promo that he wasn’t sure when he’d be competing again, and has given no indication that he’ll be back before the end of 2022. However, he hasn’t shut the door on a WWE return. With the road to WrestleMania starting soon, John Cena’s name is popping up once again. It has now come to light that Vince McMahon reportedly gave permission to Cena after his retirement to continue with WWE, and that he doesn’t see Cena returning as a slight at all for WrestleMania. Vince was rumored to want Theory vs. Cena before his exit.

Ringside News further reported that they were told that John Cena has “already discussed WrestleMania with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Nick Khan.” Only time will tell if they can work something out.
Cena currently has six projects in post productions, including films like The Independent, Snafu, Coyote v. Acme and Argylle as well as the second series of the HBO Max series Peacemaker. According to IMDb, he’s currently filming the comedy Honeymoon Friends.
