According to The Telegraph, Amidst mounting legal troubles back home, former US President Donald Trump is scheduled to embark on an international trip that will take him to his properties in Ireland and Scotland. While in Scotland, Trump plans to play a round of golf on May 6, the same day that Charles III is due to be coronated as the King of England. However, the former president has not been invited to attend the official ceremony.
Despite not being invited to the coronation, Trump has recently made public some correspondence between himself and Charles, dating back to 1995 when Charles was still the Prince of Wales. In the letters, Charles thanked Trump for offering him honorary membership to the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, a move that some have suggested was made without the King of England’s permission.
Trump has also published letters from Diana, Princess of Wales, whom he corresponded with in July 1997, just weeks before her untimely death. In the letter, Diana expressed her gratitude to Trump for sending her some flowers, calling them “quite magnificent” and expressing her deep appreciation for the kind gesture.
They truly are quite magnificent,” she wrote about some flowers Trump sent her. “I am deeply touched that you have thought of me in this special way.”
Despite the attention generated by these letters, Trump is facing serious legal challenges back home. He is currently facing 34 felony charges in New York relating to campaign finance violations, specifically concerning a hush money payment allegedly made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in order to keep her silent about an affair Trump had during the 2016 presidential campaign. In addition, Trump is also the subject of a civil lawsuit brought by E. Jean Carroll, who alleges that Trump raped her. These legal troubles have dogged Trump throughout his post-presidential career and could potentially have serious implications for his future prospects in politics.
