Recently, UFC star Conor McGregor has found himself embroiled in a serious and disturbing controversy. Allegations of rape have been made against him following an incident that reportedly occurred at Game 4 of the NBA Finals earlier this month. McGregor, however, vehemently denies these allegations and asserts his innocence.
According to demand letters sent by attorney Ariel Mitchell to McGregor, the NBA, and the Miami Heat, the incident in question took place shortly after the Denver Nuggets secured a victory over the opposing team, with a final score of 108-95. McGregor, known for his larger-than-life personality, had been sitting courtside and engaging in various entertainment activities during the game, including participating in a halftime skit where he playfully punched a Miami Heat mascot while promoting his Tidl Sport recovery spray.
The demand letters, obtained by TMZ Sports, detail a troubling account of the events that unfolded later that evening. According to the letters, at some point during the night, McGregor allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in a men’s bathroom, exhibiting violent behavior. The attorney claims that NBA and Miami Heat security personnel separated the woman from her friend and forcibly directed her into a bathroom where McGregor and his security guard were already present. The letters further assert that security prevented the woman from leaving the bathroom or allowing anyone, including her friend, to enter.
As described in the letters, McGregor reportedly emerged from a handicap stall and forcefully kissed the victim, shoving his tongue into her mouth. The woman managed to momentarily fend him off by indicating her need to use the restroom. However, it is alleged that McGregor then coerced her into engaging in oral sex. Disturbingly, he is also accused of pinning her against a wall and attempting to sodomize her. The woman reportedly fought back, elbowing McGregor repeatedly to create an opportunity to escape. In her haste to leave, she left behind her purse, which, according to Mitchell, was temporarily held by McGregor’s security guards until she pleaded for its return.
Following the incident, the woman promptly reported the assault to local authorities on the following Sunday morning, with an officer subsequently advising her to seek legal representation. It is worth noting that the demand letters, sent after the woman’s interaction with law enforcement, express her preference for reaching settlements with the NBA, the Miami Heat, and McGregor, rather than pursuing litigation.
In response to these allegations, representatives for Conor McGregor issued a statement categorically denying the claims, asserting that they are false. They further emphasized that McGregor will not be intimidated by these accusations.
