Popular actor Jamie Foxx recently expressed his deep gratitude for sister Deidra Dixon. The 55-year-old actor has posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram Tuesday in honor of Dixon’s birthday, alongside a carousel led by a playful photo of the two siblings together. Tuesday’s post is the first on Foxx’s Instagram grid since July 22, when he appeared on video for the first time since his health emergency three months prior.
“Happy birthday to my beautiful for sister @frequency11 ‘D’… you are magical you are beautiful you are the courageous lionesses #leoseason,” Foxx wrote. “And without you I would not be here … had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life.”
“I love you forever and ever happy birthday sis,” he concluded, inviting fans to swipe left for more photos of the birthday gal.
Foxx’s younger sister DeOndra Dixon died Oct. 19, 2020, at age 36. Dixon was born on Sept. 6, 1984, in Dallas, Texas and she was named the Ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in 2011.
She was supported by her close-knit family and began participating in the Special Olympics when she was in the 6th grade and competed for over nine years. After graduating from high school in Texas in 2002, Dixon moved to California to live with Foxx and the rest of her family. In her biography on the foundation’s website, Dixon said she was “born to dance,” writing, “I want to be a professional dancer.”
“My brother has given me a chance to do some special things,” Dixon wrote. “I danced in his video “Blame It.” I’ve danced on stage at some of his concerts all over the country. And guess what? I’ve danced at the Grammy’s!”
