Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith has a perfect analysis for this p*rn theory, as the actress herself has struggled with p*rn.
During a conversation on Red Table Talk, the actress admitted that she has an unhealthy relationship with p*rn. However, her mother certainly had a contrasting idea about adult films.
Red Table Talk show, presented by Jada Pinkett Smith and co-hosted by her mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and daughter Willow Smiths, brings the perspectives of three different generations on the most unabashed topics. Previously, the trio took up the topic of p*rn where Pinkett Smith shared that she had an unhealthy relationship with p*rn while she was practicing abstinence. The actress said via ET:
“It was actually, like, filling, like, an emptiness. At least you think it is, but it’s actually not.”
Further, the actress went on to explain the negative effects of indulging too much in p*rn. She said,
“Actually reading, like, some of the effects of p*rnography, like the idea that it gives you false expectations as far as s*xual interactions, I can definitely see that with men.”
Pinkett Smith further asserted that p*rns are usually male-dominated and focus on man’s pleasure. Smith mentioned that women are used as objects that can be used as per choice. The actress said:
“How a woman should always be willing and ready. She should be ready to have s*x however he wants, in any position, anywhere, and you should enjoy it no matter what. And it shouldn’t just be joy, but it should be exhilaration. In p*rnography you’re never tired. There’s never a ‘no,’ so I can definitely see how that can create an unrealistic expectation.”
Her mother, Banfield-Jones, agreed with her and she had a slightly different opinion about p*rn, as it has been beneficial for her at times. Banfield-Jones explained:
“I grew up in a household that just created a lot of shame, which is so interesting because it wasn’t like that with [Jada], but it definitely was like that for me. There’s something about it that was freeing.”
