WWE Legend Was ‘In Considerable Pain’ On Death Bed

WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk recently passed away at the age of 79. Tributes poured in for Terry Funk following his saddening demise. On last week’s SmackDown, WWE paid tribute to Funk as well.

Funk will remain as one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time. He had several stints with WWE. He joined Eastern Championship Wrestling in 1993 which would go on to be called Extreme Championship Wrestling, better known as ECW. In the promotion, he helped popularize the hardcore wrestling style.

He also made sporadic appearances for WWE through the 2000s and 2010s. He was also active on the independent wrestling scene. His last match took place in 2017. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2009.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that the funeral was described as a “celebration of life” by those wrestlers in attendance. Among the attendees were Dory Funk Jr., Tommy Dreamer, Ted DiBiase Sr., CM Punk, Chris Hero, Tully Blanchard, Manny Fernandez, Dan Spivey, Joe Malenko, Don Frye, Stan Hansen, Mark Youngblood, and Beyond The Mat producer Barry Blaustein, among others.

It has come to light that during the last months of his life, Terry Funk endured considerable pain. He had been battling dementia, resided in an assisted living facility for some time, and had been under hospice care in his final months. He passed away at a hospital in the Phoenix area.
