According to The Hill, in a recent social media post, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley revealed that the Trump campaign had sent her a bird cage and bird food to her hotel room. This gesture occurred just a day after former President Trump had referred to her as “birdbrain.”
Haley shared a photo on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, showcasing a bird cage accompanied by a large bag of bird food. A sign on the gift indicated that it was from the Trump Campaign. In her post, Haley expressed her reaction to the surprise, stating, “After a day of campaigning, this is the message waiting for me at my hotel room… #PrettyPatheticTryAgain YouJustMadeMyCaseForMe.”
The exchange between Haley and Trump unfolded as the former President, who is the frontrunner in the GOP primary campaign, shifted his attention to target Haley, who previously served as his ambassador to the United Nations and as the former governor of South Carolina.
Haley has been gaining momentum in the GOP presidential field, bolstered by her strong performances in Republican debates. Trump had given her the nickname “birdbrain” in a previous social media post, where he criticized her qualifications for the presidency and emphasized her supposed lack of talent and temperament for the job.
In response to Trump’s attack, Haley had posted on X, suggesting that the criticism indicated her campaign’s rising momentum and declaring, “Love this. It means we are in 2nd and moving up fast. Bring it!”
The back-and-forth exchanges between Trump and Haley highlight the competitive dynamics within the 2024 Republican presidential race and the growing attention on the candidates vying for the party’s nomination.
