During a recent segment on Fox & Friends discussing the civil fraud trial facing former President Donald Trump, co-host Brian Kilmeade did not hold back in expressing his critical opinions on the matter. The discussion centered around Trump’s expected attendance at the opening of New York Attorney General Letitia James’s $250 million lawsuit against him and his business empire.
Justice Arthur Engoron’s pre-trial decision had found that Trump and the Trump Organization had engaged in fraudulent activities by inflating valuations and deceiving banks and insurers. This decision also led to the cancellation of Trump’s New York business licenses, potentially forcing him to sell his properties.
As the Fox & Friends panel discussed the case, Kilmeade asserted that there were no damages that Letitia James could prove against Trump. He argued that inflating property values and similar practices were commonplace when people file taxes or sell their homes. Kilmeade criticized the legal action against Trump as an example of political targeting and claimed it should concern everyone.
When the conversation shifted to the valuation of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property, Steve Doocy redirected it to Trump’s New York properties, specifically referencing Engoron’s point that Trump had overstated the size of his apartment in Trump Tower. Kilmeade responded with sarcasm, suggesting that the focus on such details was trivial compared to other issues. He also referred to Judge Engoron as “left-wing.”
This exchange exemplified the increasingly frequent disagreements between Kilmeade and Doocy on Fox & Friends regarding political matters and legal issues involving Trump. Kilmeade’s comments reflected his skepticism about the seriousness of the allegations against Trump and his belief that the lawsuit was politically motivated.
