John Cena, renowned for his illustrious career in both professional wrestling and acting, continues to be a popular figure with a string of fascinating anecdotes trailing behind him. Recently, an intriguing tale surfaced about Cena’s triumph in a spirited drinking competition against Boston Red Sox players, underscoring his formidable presence and unyielding spirit.
As shared on the Pat McAfee show by Sean Cassey of the Boston Red Sox, the story shed light on Cena’s unexpected prowess and his unrelenting dedication to maintaining a vigorous lifestyle. Despite initially encountering Cena’s antics on a screen during a Tampa Bay Rays game, Cassey and Tim Wakefield, among others, decided to confront Cena about his seemingly misplaced allegiance to Tampa. This encounter led to a memorable evening of drinks and an unforgettable showdown that left several members of the Red Sox nursing the remnants of Cena’s formidable chops for weeks.
Recalling the gripping tale, Cassey humorously recounted the night’s events, revealing how Cena fearlessly challenged the Red Sox players to a chopping duel after a few drinks. Displaying his unmatched resilience, Cena effortlessly withstood their blows, leaving his opponents in disbelief at his imperviousness. Despite their valiant attempts, the Red Sox players were left nursing Cena’s impactful strikes, with their bodies bearing the bruised imprints of his strength for an extended period.
Currently embroiled in a feud with The Bloodline and collaborating with LA Knight, Cena’s journey in the wrestling world continues to captivate audiences. As he gears up for a potential match at the upcoming Crown Jewel Premium Live Event, fans eagerly await the next chapter in Cena’s wrestling saga, anticipating how WWE will further script his compelling narrative in the ring.
”One night I was with the Red Sox, we’re playing Tampa Bay and Cena pops on this screen like, ‘Alright all you Rays fans, let’s give it up for the Tampa Bay Rays.’ All this time we knew Cena was from Boston – he’s posing, he’s not from Tampa.
Tim Wakefield and I got Cena’s number and called him and we were like ‘Hey dude we saw you on the big screen on the Tampa. We know you’re from Boston. Stop with the posing and all this stuff.’
He’s like, ‘Oh my great message, hey let’s get together for a couple Pops at some point.’ Fast forward a couple of weeks, I call John and I’m like ‘Johnny can you hook up, we’re in town.’ He’s like ‘Yeah, I’ll meet you after my lift at 11:30.’ Who the hell lifts at 10 o’clock at night? Well, nobody but John Cena.
So Cena shows up at the bar, he comes in, it was me, Time Wakefield, Jason Bay and a rookie named Jonathan van Avery. So we get together, we’re having a few pops. So we toast it up for Arn Anderson.
Next thing you know, maybe it was some liquor courage but I’m like ‘Hey, any chance I could line you up for a chop? I just wanna see what it’s like. What do I gotta do? Do I come in like Ric Flair and be like Bam! Wooo!’
Cena said ‘I want you to chop me right here as hard as you can, just let it rip. If you chop me, I get to chop you back.’ I’m thinking ‘Yeah that sounds awesome man.’
I back up five steps back, I hit Cena as hard as I can in the chest. He doesn’t even move. I thought I broke my hand, like oh my god I didn’t know he was this big and thick and strong. He’s like ‘Are you ready for a chop?’ and I was ready.
Cena doesn’t back up at all and he just hit me – I thought I was having a heart attack, he hit me right in the heart and I went down. I’m down on the ground dying. I can’t breathe at all. All of a sudden Tim Wakefield wanted to get chopped too.
Next thing you know, Wakefield hits John Cena, Cena hits Wakefield – BAM! Wakefield fell right next to me, laying flat on the ground. Next thing you know, Cena starts hitting people. He starts chopping Jason Bay on the back, I mean people are going down, it was incredible.
Next day, me, Jason Vay, Tim Wakefield all had John Cena’s hand print, black and blue for the next two weeks. True story.”
