Former presidential niece Mary Trump recently lashed out at Trump-appointed District Court Judge Aileen Cannon for signaling she’s open to delaying ex-President Donald Trump’s Espionage Act trial until after the election via Media Ite.
It has been noted that Judge Cannon, a Trump appointee was selected at random to preside over the trial on 37 counts against ex-President Donald Trump related to Espionage Act violations.
She issued an order this week that said “Pre-trial deadlines temporarily stayed pending order to follow” as she considers Trump’s motions to delay the trial until after the election, and signaled openness to a delay during a hearing on the matter.
Mary Trump — host of The Mary Trump Show podcast and a strident Trump critic — ripped Cannon in a video exclusive to her The Good In Us newsletter subscribers, claiming Cannon is “in the tank” for her uncle and trying to help him to regain the presidency by pushing the trial date past the election:
“In Florida. In the trial of the classified documents, the situation is much worse. Donald’s personal pocket Judge Aileen Cannon continues to protect her favorite defendant at all costs. I mean, this woman is clearly in the tank for Donald, and she’s tipping her hand at practically every opportunity to show, one: her contempt for the prosecution and two: her clear desire to push this trial back as much as possible so that it won’t interfere with Donald’s chance of getting reelected.
The point here is to underscore just how insane our acceptance of the unacceptable has become. We continue to follow norms and traditions, not because they aid in the running of a healthy democratic system, but because even when they’re unhealthy and undemocratic, that’s just the way it’s always been, and that’s just the way we’re going to keep doing it.”
