Former President Donald Trump recenty urged New York City Mayor Eric Adams and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo Wednesday to “fight” a state law that spurred thousands of sexual abuse cases to be filed in the last year — including lawsuits filed against both Democrats last week. Previously, Jamie Foxx and Axl Rose were accused in New York too.
“I hope that Mayor Eric Adam’s [sic], Andrew Cuomo, and all of the others that got sued based on this ridiculous law where someone can be sued decades later, and with no proof, will fight it on being totally unfair and UNCONSTITUTIONAL,” Trump posted on Truth Social early Wednesday.
“I got sued, decades later (she has no idea when her made up event took place!), by a woman – I HAD NO IDEA WHO SHE WAS. It was a made up fairytale that was brought and funded by political operatives for purposes of Election Interference.”
In May, a Manhattan jury found Trump, 77, liable for sexually abusing and defaming writer E. Jean Carroll, who had alleged the future president assaulted her in a Bergdorf Goodman fitting room, most likely in 1996.
Trump was also ordered to pay more than $5 million in damages. Carroll’s suit was filed under the 2022 Adult Survivors Act in New York state, which gave victims one year to make claims against their abusers — no matter when the alleged incident occurred.
Nearly 3,000 victims had filed abuse claims before the law expired on Nov. 23, according to New York Assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal (D-Manhattan), who introduced the legislation.
