Former President Donald Trump recently fat-shamed his 2024 GOP rival, Chris Christie, posting a picture of him Monday, in which the former New Jersey governor is sporting unflattering shorts.
It has been noted that Christie is coming off of a dynamic debate performance, though he remains in far-off fifth place nationally. In New Hampshire, where he’s focused most of his energies, he’s currently in third.
Still, his warnings about Trump being a ‘danger to this country’ – as Christie said from the stump in the Granite State Friday – must have irritated the ex-president, who tore into him on Instagram and Truth Social.
‘Not fit for office, mentally or physically,’ Trump said in the caption of the photo.
The picture shows Christie standing in an awkward position and sporting khaki belted shorts with a white polo short tucked into them.
‘We need strong people not suffering from a harsh terminal disease, TDS, TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!!!’ Trump also offered.
Additionally, Trump highlighted two videos on X that showed right-wing conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, a prominent supporter of the ex-president, trolling Christie at an event and making fun of his weight.
In one video, posted by Loomer last month, she yells at Christie that he’s never going to be president.
‘You might have a heart attack from eating too much but you’ll never be president,’ Loomer yelled.
In another video, Loomer is heard telling Christie, ‘You don’t need to run for President fata**, you need to get on a treadmill.’
‘The proudest moments of my career is to be opposed by someone like you,’ Christie told Loomer at the time.
Christie has struggled with his weight through adulthood and quietly got gastric-banding surgery in February 2013.
