After a jury awarded $148 million in damages to election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss in their defamation lawsuit against Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor appeared on Newsmax and engaged in banter with host Greg Kelly. Giuliani faced the consequences of his false claims in December 2020, where he alleged that Freeman and Moss were involved in a scheme to rig the 2020 presidential election in Georgia using USB ports, which turned out to be mints. The defamation led to threats against the election workers, prompting them to file a lawsuit.
During the Newsmax interview, Kelly jokingly exclaimed, “That’ll be $148 million, please!” Giuliani, facing the significant damages, responded in jest, “You got any money you can loan me, Greg?” The exchange reflected the seemingly absurd nature of the situation.
Giuliani went on to express his sadness for the country and criticized the District of Columbia court, suggesting that he would leave with the impression that it is a “fascist court.” Throughout the legal proceedings, Giuliani had criticized the judge and faced challenges in his legal strategy.
That’ll be $148 million, please!” Kelly exclaimed after welcoming Giuliani to Greg Kelly Reports on Friday night
“You got any money you can loan me, Greg?” Giuliani replied before laughing.
“It seems totally ludicrous,” Kelly said while referencing Giuliani’s wild presser after the jury’s handed down its decision. “I thought you were terrific after the verdict. What are you thinking right now?”
“How can you not be so sad for the country?” he responded. “Here I am in the District of Columbia. The first time I came here, I had goosebumps. I’m gonna leave here thinking that this District of Columbia is a fascist court.”
The jury’s decision marked a significant blow to Giuliani, both financially and in terms of his reputation, as he was found liable for defamation in connection to baseless claims made after the 2020 election.
