It has been noted that a new poll out in New Hampshire has candidate Nikki Haley is picking up steam in the 2024 GOP primary race, and the expectation that Fox News will cover it ‘TO THE HILT’ had fellow candidate Donald Trump in a full-on tizzy Friday via Mediaite.
It has come to light that Trump went banana-caps on Fox News after the New Hampshire poll was covered on Fox & Friends on Friday morning, and raged about his expectation that they will also report on the state of the race going forward, in a frothed up Truth Social rant in two parts.
First came the outrage about rising polling numbers for Haley, to whom he refers here with the “BIRDBRAIN” sobriquet he’s been tossing around at various people lately, calling the boom a “SCAM.”
Then he raged at “FOXNEWS” because he expects they will “PLAY IT TO THE HILT” on the network, presumably as the day or weekend wears on. Trump also called the network “RATINGS CHALLENGED” despite Fox closing out the year atop the cable television industry — for the 8th consecutive year in a row.
Wrapping the first post, he attacked Republican New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, who endorsed Haley and was interviewed on Fox and featured in the Fox & Friends segment about Haley’s surge and gap-closing.
Trump in a second post on Truth shared a different New Hampshire poll, which oddly also had Haley over 20% but was seemingly acceptable to him because his own numbers were much higher than in the poll that had triggered him.
The poll from American Research Group had Haley within 4 points of Trump, which is not a typical result even after Sununu’s endorsement, but does reflect an increase in her numbers that has been showing up pretty much across the board as she paces ahead of the other non-Trump candidates in the GOP primary.
In the Fox segment, the hosts heavily caveated the poll as a potential outlier and painstakingly qualified that Trump is far and away the front-runner.
But not enough to avoid being warned by Trump to avoid the poll going forward, it seems.
