Republican Governor Calls Trump ‘Election Loser’

The political landscape took a turn for the contentious as Republican Governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu, and former President Donald Trump engaged in a public spat. Trump, reacting to a poll on Truth Social, criticized Sununu, calling a New Hampshire poll “FAKE” and declaring him “ONE OF THE LEAST POPULAR GOVERNORS IN U.S.”

The source of Trump’s ire was a poll from American Research Group, indicating that Nikki Haley had garnered 29% support in the upcoming New Hampshire GOP primary, while Trump secured 33%. This surge for Haley followed Sununu’s endorsement of her presidential bid, drawing attention on Fox News’s Fox & Friends and triggering Trump’s response.

In a swift retort, Sununu challenged the notion of his unpopularity in his state, highlighting that he has consistently maintained high approval ratings. He pointedly stated, “One of us has never lost an election,” subtly alluding to Trump’s electoral history. Sununu emphasized his current 40% approval in New Hampshire and humorously remarked about Trump’s use of caps lock, concluding with the hashtag #WhyAreYouSoObsessedWithMe.

Accompanying his response, Sununu included a screenshot from a poll ranking him as the fourth most popular governor in the U.S., boasting a 64% approval rating. The exchange exemplifies the tensions within the Republican party as potential 2024 contenders jockey for position and endorsement dynamics come into play.
