In response, Trump, in a series of provocative posts, labeled Dingell as a “LOSER” who is aiding President Joe Biden in “DESTROY[ING] our Country.” He mocked her for allegedly crying over her late husband’s funeral, former Congressman John Dingell, during which Trump claimed he had bestowed upon him the “absolute highest U.S. honors.” Trump asserted that Debbie Dingell had expressed gratitude for this gesture but later resumed criticizing him on the campaign trail.
Trump then pivoted to broader grievances about the state of the country, describing it as a “NO LONGER RESPECTED MESS” and a “NATION IN DECLINE.” He accused Biden of mishandling the auto industry and accused China of mistreating the auto workers of Michigan and the entire USA.
This attack on Dingell is not the first time Trump has targeted her in relation to her late husband. Previously, at a campaign rally in Michigan, Trump made a controversial comment suggesting that John Dingell was “looking up” from hell. Debbie Dingell responded to Trump’s previous remarks, expressing the emotional toll his words had on her and stating that his hurtful comments had made her healing process more challenging.
