Donald Trump Jr. has expressed strong opposition to the idea of Nikki Haley being selected as his father’s running mate in the 2024 presidential election. In an interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling, Trump Jr. made it clear that he would go to great lengths to prevent Haley from becoming the vice presidential candidate.
According to Trump Jr., Nikki Haley is viewed as a puppet of the Washington, D.C., establishment and criticized her stance on foreign policy, particularly her support for what he described as “never-ending wars.” He argued that she is favored by the billionaire class seeking control and influence.
Haley, who served as Donald Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018, has gained popularity in recent 2024 GOP primary polls, coming close to Trump’s numbers. There have been speculations about her potential selection as Trump’s running mate, with even former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy expressing the idea.
Trump Jr. asserted that he does not want Haley in the position and sees her as the preferred candidate of the establishment. He mentioned Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a preferable candidate and criticized Haley’s rise in the polls.
His sister-in-law, Lara Trump, has expressed openness to the idea of a Trump-Haley ticket, but Trump Jr. is not the only figure within the MAGA movement opposing such a pairing. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene predicted that “MAGA would revolt” if Nikki Haley were to be considered for any position in Trump’s administration.
