Marvel executives are reportedly grappling with decisions regarding the future of Jonathan Majors in the franchise following his guilty verdict for harassment and assault against his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Reports suggest that Marvel bosses are cautious about selecting a replacement to avoid adding more controversy to the situation. While fans have speculated about potential replacements, insiders claim that Will Smith’s name has been ruled out due to concerns about introducing more “baggage.”

The source revealed, “There have been some online rumors that have been brewing that Will Smith would take over, but that is not going to happen.” The insider emphasized Marvel’s intention to avoid replacing one contentious figure with another.

Marvel faces a challenging situation as Jonathan Majors’ Kang character was intended to lead the next wave of movies and shows for several years. The studio is deliberating whether to recast the role or alter the storyline. The insider mentioned that Marvel is determined not to repeat past strategies, stating, “They know for sure they don’t want to replace baggage with more baggage.”

Despite the uncertainty, the source assured that Marvel would take its time to make a thoughtful decision. The insider added, “It may have worked for Marvel when they cast Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man back in the day when he wasn’t the star he is today, but we are in a different world, and who they cast and how it goes over with fans is a whole new ballgame.”

Jonathan Majors’ sentencing is scheduled for February 6, and he could face up to a year behind bars. Marvel and Disney dropped Majors from all upcoming projects after his conviction, and fans continue to speculate on who could potentially replace him in the iconic role of Kang the Conqueror.
