The Morning Joe crew recently dropped speculation regarding the reason why exactly former President Donald Trump apparently had blood on his hands in a photo, despite both Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist insisting that they didn’t want to speculate exactly why.
Trump was photographed waving as he left a New York City courthouse in the defamation of E. Jean Carroll trial. The photo shows red markings on his fingers that have caused a bit of fury on social media.
“Do we have any answer on what’s on Donald Trump’s … like, Donald Trump has — his hands are bleeding,” Scarborough asked Geist. “Looks like he has a sore…” to which Mika Brzezinski asked, “Is that magic marker?”
“Is it magic marker?” Scarborough replied. “Because it looks like he has a sore on his index finger there. I don’t know. Maybe it is magic marker. I don’t know.”
“It looks like a cut. I mean, that’s blood, isn’t it?” Geist replied, adding, “But I don’t want to speculate.” Scarborough agreed that he, too, didn’t want to speculate — after speculating. But the speculation continued as MSNBC’s Lisa Rubin explained what she thought might have caused the red markings on Trump’s fingers.
“There was a point in time during the day where Trump, very frustrated with Judge Kaplan, banged his hands down on the table,” Rubin said. “I doubt that like that may never come from that. But could they be exacerbated by that, perhaps?”
“Like a toddler having a tantrum, perhaps, and causing bleeding into his hand?” Geist replied before explaining how Trump’s win in Iowa wasn’t to be viewed as anything but 56,000 Iowans voting for the 45th president and not a sign of some massive political shift in the nation.
