On Monday, ABC News journalist Jon Karl and George Stephanopoulos discussed Donald Trump’s potential GOP nomination for the 2024 primaries via Mediaite.
During the conversation, Stephanopoulos pointed out that Trump has been making several rhetorical errors, factual blunders, and giving bizarre statements during his recent campaign events. Karl went on to say that Trump seemed “frankly out of it” due to his numerous mistakes.
Karl responded by noting that President Joe Biden’s team has been seizing upon Trump’s mix-ups, the latest being when Trump confused Haley for Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
“Donald Trump is truly confused about who Nikki Haley is,” Karl assessed. “Thinks somehow that she was in charge of security at the Capitol on January 6th. Clearly confusing her with Nancy Pelosi, but we’ve soon him confuse Joe Biden with Barack Obama. He thinks he beat Obama. We saw at one point he talked about how Biden was going to get us into World War II. There have been moments and there have been several moments on the campaign trail where he has seemed quite frankly out of it.”
Stephanopoulos picked up on this by noting Trump’s Haley-Pelosi confusion came while the ex-president repeated his false claim that Pelosi was responsible for the security failures of January 6th. Karl stayed on topic though as he emphasized that Trump is “confused about who Nikki Haley is. The person he’s running against.”
