In the aftermath of his substantial legal setback, former President Donald Trump unleashed a furious tirade directed at Judge Lewis Kaplan, expressing dissatisfaction with his legal team, yet conspicuously avoiding any mention of E. Jean Carroll—the woman he was recently found to have sexually abused and defamed.
The high-stakes legal drama culminated in an $83.3 million judgment against Trump for defaming Carroll during his tenure as president. In the wake of this momentous ruling, Carroll, alongside her legal team, embarked on a media campaign, subjecting Trump to relentless criticism and ridicule.
On a Wednesday morning, Trump took to Truth Social to vent his frustrations about the case. In a scathing diatribe, he launched an attack on the judge who presided over the defamation case, Judge Lewis Kaplan. Trump, in a characteristic fashion, propagated numerous falsehoods regarding the two trials he lost and announced his intent to seek new legal representation for an appeal. Notably absent from his diatribe, however, was any acknowledgment or commentary regarding E. Jean Carroll.
Trump’s narrative centered on what he perceived as a “ridiculous and unfair Witch Hunt” orchestrated by a judge he accused of being highly partisan and harboring animosity towards him. He painted Kaplan as a “bully” who, in Trump’s view, demonstrated a clear bias by demanding two trials instead of one. Trump alleged that Kaplan denied him due process, obstructed the presentation of crucial evidence, and restricted his time on the witness stand, directing him to provide only one-word answers. Trump also criticized Kaplan’s handling of the trial, citing the presence of the judge’s wife and friends in the front row, which he perceived as a demonstration of bias.
While Trump vehemently aired his grievances about the legal proceedings and vowed to explore his options for an appeal, he conspicuously omitted any reference to E. Jean Carroll. The woman at the center of the defamation case and her legal team had been vocal in their condemnation of Trump, but his response focused solely on attacking the judicial process and the individuals involved, with no mention of the underlying accusations against him.
Similarly, Trump neglected to name Alina Habba, the attorney who represented Carroll in the case. Although Habba experienced a defeat in court, she took the opportunity to address reporters outside the courthouse, delivering an impassioned rant that reflected her displeasure with the verdict.
I am in the process, along with my team, of interviewing various law firms to represent me in an Appeal of one of the most ridiculous and unfair Witch Hunts our Country has ever seen – The defamation Sham presided over by a Clinton appointed, highly partisan, Trump Hating Judge, Lewis Kaplan, who was, together with certain other Radical Left Democrat Judges, one of the most partisan and out of control activists that I have ever appeared before. He was a “bully” who demanded two trials, rather than one, denied me Due Process, would not allow me to put forth vital evidence (of which there was much!), and only allowed me to be on the witness stand for minutes, telling my lawyer what to ask, and telling me to only give one word answers, as his wife and friends sat in cordoned off front row seats watching with glee. This entire HOAX is a disgrace to our American System of Justice. Any lawyer who takes a TRUMP CASE is either “CRAZY,” or a TRUE
In Trump’s post-verdict narrative, his attention remained fixated on the perceived injustices of the legal proceedings, leaving a conspicuous silence surrounding the actual allegations of sexual abuse and defamation leveled against him by E. Jean Carroll. The omission of any commentary on Carroll or her accusations underscored Trump’s strategic focus on discrediting the legal process itself rather than directly engaging with the substantive claims against him.
