Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley recently slammed her old boss turned opponent former President Donald Trump on Thursday and shared a meme depicting him as a Halloween costume for the “Weakest General Election Candidate Ever.”

“Democrats are ecstatic about the prospect of running against Donald Trump,” asserted Haley in her post sharing the image. “They couldn’t dream up a worse general election candidate if they tried. Between his legal drama, his terrible poll numbers, and his confusion, Trump will hand Democrats a big victory.”

Quinnipiac University polling from recently shows that while Haley would easily defeat President Joe Biden in a general election match (47%–42%), Trump would lose to Biden once more, this time by an even greater margin (50%–44%). For the expected Republican nominee, that would be an even more devastating loss than the one he endured in 2020 as an incumbent.
According to campaign finance filings, Trump is not generating significant amounts of money and spends a large portion of what he does raise on legal fees. Trump’s political operation spent around $60 million fighting the four criminal indictments and other civil cases that have kept the former president in court between his real campaign and the political action groups that backed him.
Earlier this week, Haley argued on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show that “the first thing we have to understand is Trump cannot beat Biden in an election. That’s a fact. We know that.”
“He doesn’t win independents. No one can win a general election if you don’t have independents. He doesn’t win suburban women. He has lost some Republicans who don’t like his style,” she added.
