Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has extended an invitation to former President Donald Trump to visit the front lines of Ukraine’s war against Russia. Zelenskyy made this invitation during his appearance at the Munich Security Conference alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, as the conflict in Ukraine approaches its second anniversary.
During his speech, Zelenskyy expressed his readiness to accompany Trump to the front lines if he accepts the invitation, emphasizing the importance of decision-makers witnessing the reality of war firsthand. Zelenskyy mentioned that he had previously extended this invitation to Trump publicly but emphasized that its success depended on Trump’s willingness to accept.
The Ukrainian president also encouraged leading candidates from both political parties to visit Ukraine, highlighting the significance of demonstrating solidarity and understanding of the situation on the ground.
Meanwhile, Trump has recently voiced criticism of NATO’s support for Ukraine and has opposed providing additional military and financial aid to the country. He called on GOP lawmakers to vote against a legislative package aimed at providing assistance to Ukraine and Israel.
Against the backdrop of escalating tensions, Ukrainian forces have withdrawn from the front-line city of Avdiivka after facing challenges in repelling Russian attacks in the eastern region. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to navigate the complexities of the conflict.
