WCW Legend Got Blood Transfusion Before Raw

Former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael has been facing health challenges in recent years. The ex-WCW star was hospitalized a few days ago with suspected pneumonia. However, there has been a positive development in his condition.

A recent update on McMichael’s health revealed that he was receiving a blood transfusion and had contracted MRSA, an infection that renders the body resistant to many antibiotics. Despite this setback, there is now good news regarding his recovery.

McMichael’s family has announced via X/Twitter that the 66-year-old has begun responding well to antibiotics and may be discharged from the hospital as early as Tuesday. This update has brought relief to his fans, who have been concerned about his well-being.

“Update on Steve McMichael: Great news – Mongo is feeling better and he’s responding well to the antibiotics. The hope is to have him back at home on Tuesday. Please keep sending up your thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family.”

In 2021, McMichael was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Following his diagnosis, he announced his retirement from public appearances. He was honored with the ALS Courage Award from the Les Turner ALS Foundation later that year.

While McMichael has limited his public appearances since his diagnosis, photos of him meeting with former teammates and professional wrestlers have surfaced online in the past.
