Former President Donald Trump recently launched a rant late night in a social media post about President Joe Biden and slammed his rival, rolling out a stunning new self-nickname, and professing a desire to debate the president via Mediaite.
Trump is quite active on Truth Social platform and those posts usually take the form of text rants with copious use of ALL CAPS WITH EXCLAMATION POINTS about things like “STOLLEN” elections. They can often be a window into Trump’s thinking.
An hour-and-a-half after midnight on Tuesday morning, Trump’s mind was on the not-so-hot-off-the-presses news that Minnesota Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips has dropped out of his longshot campaign against Biden. That happened almost a week ago.
In a late-night Truth Social post, Trump bashed Phillips before insisting he would debate Biden “ANY TIME, ANY PLACE!” and dropped the new name “Honest Don”:
Dean Phillips, who just “quit” in his hapless campaign against Crooked Joe Biden, was not very good at his craft, politics. In fact, I would say that he was far worse than the Republican challengers to me, with a few exceptions. I’ll give you those names if you like, but I’d rather get down to the serious business of defeating the worst President in the history of the United States, by far, Crooked Joe Biden!!! For the good of our now failing Nation, and in order to inform the American people of what is going on in our Country, we must immediately have a full scale debate between Crooked Joe and Honest Don. I’m ready to go, ANY TIME, ANY PLACE!
It has been noted that Trump’s penchant for falsehoods was underscored lately when CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins introduced a fact-check from Daniel Dale by noting “after every Trump’s speech, it seems we have to have a series of fact checks because at multiple times.”
Trump pulled out of a second presidential debate with Biden in 2020 after the first contest featured chaotic moments that included Trump’s message for the Proud Boys to “Stand back and stand by” and Biden telling “clown” Trump to “shut up, man.”
Trump refused to debate any of his GOP rivals this time, while the RNC voted not to participate in any debate run by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
