Former Vice President Mike Pence delivered a stunning repudiation of his former running mate, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, stating that he “cannot in good conscience” endorse Trump due to his pursuit of an agenda that diverges from conservative principles.
Speaking on Fox News, Pence emphasized that Trump’s agenda conflicts with the conservative agenda that they governed on during their four years in office. Despite his pride in the record of the Trump-Pence administration, Pence highlighted areas where he believes Trump has deviated from conservative values, including abortion, the national debt, and his handling of TikTok.
Pence underscored the profound differences between himself and Trump on various issues, including their contrasting approaches to the constitutional duties Pence exercised on January 6th. He expressed disappointment in Trump’s departure from their shared commitments, particularly regarding fiscal responsibility and the sanctity of human life.
“Donald Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years. That’s why I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign,” Pence said on Fox News, in a stunning repudiation of his former running mate.
While Pence refrained from revealing his choice for the 2024 general election, he made it clear that he would not support President Joe Biden and suggested that he would not endorse a third-party candidate.
