Former President Donald Trump recently blasted Judge Juan Merchan and the many people “gagging me” in a new rant. He further claimed that when he talks about “rigged” cases, “people get very angry” via Mediaite.
It has been noted that Trump is a frequent poster to his Truth Social platform. While it lasts. Since going public, Trump Media has taken a nosedive after an initial stock price surge.
Those posts usually take the form of text rants with copious use of all caps with explanation points about things like “STOLLEN” elections. However, Trump also sometimes posts brief video rants shot at one of his golf properties that are remarkable in their ability to recreate the elements of those text rants.
On Thursday, Trump followed up a blizzard of 14 video rants a day earlier with several new ones.
One of them involved Judge Merchan, who recently expanded a gag order against Trump after Trump relentlessly attacked his daughter, Loren Merchan.
But he also made something of an admission in the falsehood-riddled rant about the effect of his attacks:
I was recently informed that another corrupt New York judge, Juan Merchan, gagged me! That’s gagged like you can’t talk!
But he gagged me with respect to a case that everyone, including the DA, felt should never have been brought.
Plenty of people have gagged me recently because when I talk in New York, I explain to the people and they understand these cases are all rigged.
It sounds fair, doesn’t it? To be gagged. But it’s not. It virtually never happens. It only happens to me because I’m able to tell people what’s happening. And those people get extremely angry with what’s happening.
This judge should be recused and the case should be thrown out. He’s totally conflicted. There’s never been a judge more conflicted than this one. There has virtually never been anything like it. Thank you very much.
It has been noted that gag orders are actually not rare and do not prevent a person from speaking at all. Trump’s gag orders have all been narrowly tailored. There’s no evidence cases against him have been “rigged.” However, gag orders are intended to protect cases, witnesses, and other principals from the negative impacts of improper statements.
