Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to express his support for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s decision not to recuse himself from cases related to the January 6th Capitol riot. Alito’s announcement came after reports emerged that his wife, Martha-Ann Alito, had displayed flags associated with supporters of Trump and far-right movements on properties linked to them.
In his letter, Alito attributed the presence of the flags to his wife and asserted that the symbols lacked political significance. He explained, “As soon as I saw it, I asked my wife to take it down, but for several days, she refused.”
Trump lauded Alito’s decision in a characteristically emphatic post on Truth Social, hailing the justice for demonstrating “intelligence, courage, and ‘guts'” in refusing to step aside from cases related to the January 6th events. The former president’s message, delivered in all caps, resonated with his followers, as he commended Alito for his resolve.
Trump’s endorsement of Alito’s stance extended beyond the confines of social media, as he emphasized the importance of such steadfastness among all judges, justices, and leaders. He asserted that if more individuals demonstrated similar determination, the country would thrive, contrasting this notion with what he perceived as the current state of affairs under President Joe Biden.
