Nikki Haley Insulted ‘Criminal’ Donald Trump

It has been noted that Nikki Haley is now backing a candidate she doesn’t believe most Americans will vote for in light of his new felony convictions via Mediaite. In February, Haley told Craig Melvin that there is “no way” Americans will vote for a “convicted criminal” while speaking about Donald Trump and his hush money trial.

Now, Americans will have to make that decision as the former president was found guilty of over 30 felony counts related to falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments. It has been announced that Trump will be sentenced on July 11 as he remains the presumptive GOP nominee.

“There is no way that the American people are going to vote for a convicted criminal,” Haley said in February. The answer somewhat baffled Melvin as he noted Haley said she would vote for the former president in November. Haley said her vote for Trump was due to the GOP pledge she had to sign to participate in primary debates.

Haley’s answer to Melvin marked a progression from only a few months prior when she still argued she had a viable shot at the Republican nomination.

“I don’t even think it’s going to get to the point that Donald Trump becomes president. I think that I’m going to be the nominee,” she told George Stephanopoulos in August.

Haley’s latest comments on her support in November came last week before Trump’s conviction. In her first public appearance since dropping out of the race, the former United Nations ambassador confirmed she is voting for Trump, calling President Joe Biden a “catastrophe.”

“I will be voting for Trump. Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me,” she said.
