President Joe Biden flashed a broad smile after concluding his address regarding an Israeli ceasefire offer to Hamas and fielding a question regarding Donald Trump’s reaction to his conviction on Thursday.
As he walked away from the podium following his remarks on the Middle East conflict, a reporter interjected with a question.
“Mr. President, can you tell us, sir, Donald Trump refers to himself as a political prisoner and blames you directly. What’s your response to that, sir?” queried the reporter.
The question prompted Biden to halt in his tracks, pivot to face the press once more, and sport a wide grin, seemingly contemplating the potential ramifications of his response. Ultimately, he opted to continue, while another reporter inquired whether he believed the guilty verdict would impact the campaign and if Trump should remain on the ballot.
“Biden flashed a little sly grin as he fielded a question from Kelly O’Donnell,” noted Fox News’ John Roberts as Fox cut away from the event.
During his own press conference earlier on Friday, Trump attributed his legal woes to “Biden and his people. Maybe his people more so; I’m uncertain if Biden is fully aware, as I’m not certain about his awareness of anything.”
“This is orchestrated by Washington, and nothing of this magnitude has ever been witnessed before,” he added.
