The former Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus Vance Jr., opined that Trump is unlikely to face prison time despite his conviction. Levin questioned the legitimacy of the trial, alleging that it infringed on Trump’s due process rights and highlighted the dangers of allowing prosecutors and judges to disregard constitutional safeguards.
He called for the case to reach the Supreme Court to uphold the due process and equal protection clauses of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments. Levin warned of dire consequences if the conviction were to stand, framing the Democrat Party as the modern-day equivalent of the Confederacy, seeking to erode federal jurisdiction and subvert constitutional principles.
